Ideal For Swimming & Snorkeling
Mangrove Bay is located on the northeast coast of Somerset Island, in the outskirts of Somerset Village. It is surrounded by tropical vegetation such as mangroves and small palm trees which hide the beach. This beach is a thin strip of white sand with shallow waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The water is family-friendly. The beach is accessible from Somerset Road and may get crowded as the surrounding area is visited by a good number of tourists. It is recommended to show up early to obtain a good spot. Parking is also limited. Public restrooms are not available at Mangrove Bay Beach Bermuda but it may be possible to use the restrooms at a local business nearby.

Mangrove Bay Beach is just over a mile away from Fort Scaur. Fort Scaur was built in the 1870s to protect the Royal Navy Dockyard from the United States. U.S. troops were stationed here, but as allies during World War II. Fort Scaur is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and admission is free. Mangrove Bay Beach is within Somerset Village, so the one road village may be worth exploring when visiting the beach.
There are seven retail stores within Somerset Village to shop at. Shops mainly cater to locals but there are some unique specialty shops where one can find an interesting gift to bring home. Bermuda Clayworks sells pottery, most of which are Bermuda themed however artists make what moves them so one is never quite sure what will be there. Be prepared to be surprised. There is a jewelry store called Mason Don & Frances and a florist called Roses Flower Shop. Somerset Village also has two drugstores: Caesar’s Pharmacy and Somerset Pharmacy as well as a discount and variety store called Dollar Depot – Somerset.

There are several restaurants within walking distance of Mangrove Bay Beach Bermuda. Restaurants a half mile away or less include Arabian Palace, Misty’s Take Out, New Traditions Restaurant, Salt Rock Grill & Sushi Bar, Village Café, Woody’s Drive Inn Two, Gloria’s Kitchen, Breezes at Cambridge Beaches, and Somerset Country Squire Pub & Restaurant. Salt Rock Grill & Sushi Bar serves only locally caught seafood and including Bermuda lobster when it is in season.
There are two hotels in the nearby area: The Corals and Cambridge Beaches Resort. The Corals is located a third of a mile to the east. The Corals is a renovated farmhouse with just two guest units. There is complimentary breakfast and the guestrooms feature private baths, kitchenette, refrigerator, and complimentary high speed internet access.
Cambridge Beaches Resort is located just under half a mile to the north northwest of Mangrove Bay Beach Bermuda. It is a fairly good-sized resort having 188 guestrooms. Cambridge Beaches Resort has been recognized by publications such as Conde Nast, Travel + Leisure, and Food & Wine. Each guest unit has unique furniture and decorations. All of the rooms feature marble bathrooms as well as private patio or terrace areas. The resort offers a spa, a gym, a beauty salon, several restaurants, and live entertainment nightly.
