Clearwater Beach Was Restricted Until 1995

Clearwater Beach Bermuda is located on the eastern tip of St. David’s Island, two miles south-southeast of St. George. It consists of two manmade beaches made by land reclamation in the mid-1900s for creating the nearby United States Naval Air Station. The entire area was restricted until 1995 as the air station was operational. After the base was closed, the area has been open to the public. Planes can be seen departing or landing from the nearby airport.

Excellent For Swimming & Snorkeling

Many interesting things can be seen while snorkeling such as turtles and conch shells. Although it is a beautiful beach, it is not well-known to tourists and remains uncrowded even when cruise ships are in port.

Clearwater Beach is home to the only true beach bar in Bermuda, The Gombeys Bar and Restaurant located right on the beach. The Gombeys serves island food such as jerk chicken grill, Bermuda fish chowder, fish sandwiches, and so on. It also offers umbrellas, beach chairs, snorkeling gear and the like for rent.

Clearwater Beach is one of the rare beaches in Bermuda to have lifeguards, making this an extremely family-friendly beach. Lifeguards are on duty from April to September. Public restrooms are available. There is also a children’s playground in the park and a rollerblade rink on the beach.
